God was saying, Paul count it all joy when you are in heaviness knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience, but let patience have her perfect work that you may be perfect and entire lacking nothing. (James 1:2-4)

I Peter 1:6-7 states, "Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of you faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto the praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ."

Gold may perish but our faith will not, and if our faith will not perish then will not perish. For this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (I John 5:4) So we see that Glory Follows suffering.

The reason that some Christians do not grow stronger in temptations is because they do not exercise their faith. They just lay down and let the temptation over take them.
